The visit will further the momentum of high-level exchanges, the Ministry of External Affairs said

Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi will visit Norway (16-18 August), Iceland (19-20 August) and Malta (21-23 August) in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation with the three countries.

Announcing the visit on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that in Oslo, MoS Lekhi will meet Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Anniken Huitfeldt. She will also participate in a panel discussion on India-Norway Green Energy Cooperation, together with Minister of Climate and Environment Espen Barth Eide, in Arendal.

During her stay in Reykjavik, Iceland, MoS Lekhi will have discussions with Minister of Foreign Affairs Thordis Kolbrun Gylfadottir as well as Minister of Culture & Business Affairs Lilja Alfredsdóttir. She will also pay a courtesy call on Speaker of the Parliament Birgir Ármannsson.

According to the MEA, during the Malta leg of her visit, MoS Lekhi will pay a courtesy call on President of Malta George Vella in national capital Valleta. She will have discussions with Minister for Foreign & European Affairs and Trade.Ian Borg. She will also meet the Minister of Tourism as well as the Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government.

In addition to bilateral meetings, MoS Lekhi will interact with a cross-section of members of the Indian diaspora and participate in cultural/yoga events as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations in the three countries.

The visit will further the momentum of high-level exchanges, and provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the three countries bilaterally and in the multilateral fora, the MEA noted.
