PM Modi invited Indians to display national flag atop their homes as part of “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign from August 13 to 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is turning into a mass movement and urged people to put ‘tiranga’ as the profile picture of their accounts on social media platforms between August 2 and 15.

“I am very happy to see that the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is taking the form of a mass movement. People from all walks of life and from every section of the society are participating in different programs connected with it,” Prime Minister Modi said in his 91st episode of ‘Man Ki Baat’ programme.

He invited residents of India to display the flag atop their homes as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign from August 13 to August 15. He also advised that the Indian flag, from August 2 to August 15, should be their new social media profile image.

Noting its cultural significance and the way they bring the body and the mind together, PM Modi cited many fairs around the nation, including the Minjar Mela in Himachal Pradesh and the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara in Telangana.

“In modern times, these old links of the society are very important to strengthen the spirit of 'Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat'. Our youth must join them, and whenever you go to such fairs, share the pictures on social media too,” he said.

Furthermore, he urged people to use specific hashtags when posting pictures of fairs they had attended on social media to let others know about them, and he added that people could also upload these images to the Culture Ministry's website, which would provide a prize for the best image.

In addition, he addressed the nation's athletes and sportsmen and wished them success at the current Commonwealth Games. He added that the 44th Chess Olympiad, which took place in Chennai, was an honour for India and the U-17 Women's FIFA World Cup will also be held there in October.

During 'Man Ki Baat' programme, he also talked about the “Azadi Ki Railgadi Aur Railway Station” endeavour, Karnataka’s Amrita Bharathi Kannadarthi campaign, the inauguration of the Indian Virtual Herbarium, India’s potential to become a “Powerhouse in Toy Exports” and many more.
