The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of interest

India and Fiji reviewed the entire gamit of bilateral relations during the fifth round of Foreign Office Consultations (FoC) in Suva in Monday.

During the talks, the the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the close bilateral ties between India and Fiji.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, “During the FoC, both sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations covering political, economic, defence, cultural, and consular matters and discussed ways to further strengthen the close bilateral ties between India and Fiji.”

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of interest and agreed to enhance their cooperation in the multilateral fora, the MEA added.

They decided to strengthen their collaboration in the multilateral fora after exchanging opinions on a number of important regional and global challenges.

Secretary (East), MEA Saurabh Kumar headed the Indian delegation and Permanent Secretary in the Fijian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yogesh Karan led the Fijian delegation.

During the visit, the Secretary (East) also met with top Fijian Cabinet members and Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama. Both parties underlined their steadfast commitment to fostering their countries' ongoing friendship and collaboration in development.

Taking to Twitter, the official Twitter account of the High Commission of India in Suva, Fiji, tweeted about this meeting, saying, “Secretary (East) @AmbSaurabhKumar made a courtesy call on Hon’ble @FijiPM H.E. Voreqe Bainimarama. Reaffirmed our strong commitment to building on India-Fiji historical friendship and strengthen our ongoing partnership for progress”.

The next round of meetings will take place in New Delhi at a mutually agreeable time.
