India feat has been achieved through 2,63,26,111 sessions, said the Ministry of Health Family Welfare

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Indians on crossing 200 crore vaccine doses mark, saying he is "proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccine drive unparalleled in scale and speed."

“India creates history again! Congrats to all Indians on crossing the special figure of 200 crore vaccine doses. Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against Covid-19,” PM Modi said in his tweet.

As per provisional reports by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, till 1 PM on Sunday, a total 2,00,00,15,631 doses have been administered across the country. “This has been achieved through 2,63,26,111 sessions,” the Ministry said.

It took 277 days to reach the earlier milestone of 100 crore doses. Last year, on September 17, 2.5 crore vaccine doses were administered in a single day, the highest ever record.

According to the Ministry, 98 per cent of the adult population has received at least one dose while 90 per cent have been fully vaccinated.

Earlier this week, the Ministry launched a 75-day vaccination drive to administer precaution doses of the covid vaccine for free for people aged 18 and above.

A total of 5,63,67,888 precaution doses have been administered to all eligible population. The Ministry has already reduced the gap between the second and the precaution dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for all beneficiaries from nine to six months.
