The two leaders also exchanged views on India-EU relations, regional and global issues

Prime Minister Narendra Modi & Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte discussed bilateral cooperation in high tech and emerging sectors as they reviewed bilateral as well as global issues, including Ukraine, over a phone call on Wednesday.

"Always a pleasure speaking to you my dear friend @MinPres.

Our Strategic Partnership on Water, cooperation in agriculture and high-tech areas add new dimensions to our outstanding relationship.

Was also pleased to exchange views on other important regional and global issues," PM Modi said on Twitter after the call.

He was replying to PM Rutte who tweeted, "Good to speak once again to Indian PM @narendramodi about the strong partnership between our two countries and about ways of expanding it. Naturally, we also discussed the war in Ukraine and its impact on matters like food security. Cooperation remains essential".

The two leaders discussed India-Netherlands bilateral ties, including the Strategic Partnership on Water, cooperation in the key area of agriculture, potential for bilateral cooperation in high tech and emerging sectors, said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The two leaders also exchanged views on India-EU relations as well as regional and global issues including convergence and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

With regular high-level visits and interactions, India-Netherlands ties have gained tremendous momentum in the recent years.

Prime Minister Modi visited the Netherlands in June 2017 while PM Rutte travelled to India for the second time in May 2018.

In April 9, 2021, the two Prime Ministers held a Virtual Summit and launched the 'Strategic Partnership on Water’.

Innovation, technology and governance are key aspects of the Indo-Dutch water cooperation. During the Virtual Summit, both sides had highlighted the strong synergies as far as the water related challenges of India and the expertise and experience of the Netherlands is concerned.

It is worth noting that the Netherlands is the fourth largest investor in India across diverse sectors.

In 2022, India and the Netherlands are jointly commemorating 75 years of establishment of diplomatic ties. This special milestone was celebrated with the State Visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to the Netherlands from April 4-7.
