PM Modi is visiting Germany a month after his trip to Berlin to hold India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations

Ahead of his departure to Schloss Elmau in Germany to attend the three-day G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said topical issues such as environment, energy, climate, food security, health, counter-terrorism, gender equality and democracy will be discussed with leaders of the G7 countries and the G7 partner countries.

The three-day G7 Summit will begin on June 26 and countries like Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa have also been invited to attend the meet, taking place in the backdrop of ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.

The G7 consists of seven richest countries of the world and they are: the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. As is customary, European Union President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel will also attend the Summit.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Prime Minister Modi will also meet some of the leaders participating in the G7 Summit, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

In Germany, Prime Minister Modi will also be meeting members of the Indian Diaspora from across Europe.

“While in Germany, I also look forward to meeting members of the Indian Diaspora from across Europe, who are contributing immensely to their local economies as well as enriching our relations with European countries,” the Prime Minister said.

On his way back to India, Prime Minister Modi will make a brief stopover in Abu Dhabi, UAE for a meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi on June 28, 2022 to convey his personal condolences on the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
