The two will also discuss capability building through military-to-military engagements

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will meet US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin and discuss defence cooperation between the two sides during his visit to the US beginning on Monday.

Singh is travelling to Washington with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar from April 11-14 to participate in the 4th India-USA 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue.

The 2+2 Dialogue, to be held on Monday, will review bilateral cooperation across domains and chart out the way forward.

Defence Minister Singh will separately meet US Defence Secretary Austin in Pentagon to discuss defence cooperation including defence industrial collaboration and capability building through military-to-military engagements, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.

Singh is also scheduled to visit the Headquarters of US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) at Hawaii after his visit to Washington DC, the ministry said.

Providing details about the 4th India-US 2+2 Dialogue on Thursday, MEA Spokesperson Arindam had said it would enable both sides to undertake a comprehensive review of cross-cutting issues in the Indo-US bilateral agenda relating to foreign policy, defence and security.

"The 2+2 dialogue mechanism will also provide an opportunity to exchange views on important regional and global developments and how we can work together to address issues of common interest and concern," Bagchi had pointed out.

As part of the ongoing bilateral dialogue, EAM Jaishankar will also separately meet his US counterpart, Secretary of State Blinken.
