India and Nepal enjoy age-old and special ties of friendship and cooperation

Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba arrived in India on Friday for what is his first bilateral visit abroad since assuming office in July 2021.

He is accompanied by his spouse Arzu Deuba and a high-level official delegation.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on him and expressed hope that the visit would further stregthen the close neighbourly relations between the two countries.

"Pleased to call on PM @SherBDeuba of Nepal during his official visit to India.

Confident that this visit will further strengthen our close neighborly relations," Jaishankar said on Twitter.

Announcing the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs MEA had said that it would provide an opportunity to review the growth in wide-ranging bilateral cooperative partnership.

India and Nepal enjoy age-old and special ties of friendship and cooperation. In recent years, the partnership has witnessed significant growth in all areas of cooperation, the MEA said.

"The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to the two sides to review this wide ranging cooperative partnership and to progress it further for the benefit of the two peoples," the MEA pointed out.
