US Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh is already in India on a two-day visit

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to each other on Wednesday and discussed developments related to Ukraine.

They also reviewed bilateral cooperation and developments related to the Indo-Pacific and the global economy, according to a tweet by EAM Jaishankar.

"Just completed a useful conversation with @SecBlinken. Reviewed the progress on our bilateral cooperation. Discussed developments pertaining to the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine and the global economy," Jaishankar tweeted.

Blinken also tweeted, saying, "Useful conversation today with Indian External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar on the worsening humanitarian situation in Ukraine and our shared efforts to uphold and promote a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific".

The discussion came a day ahead of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to New Delhi even as US Deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) Daleep Singh is already in India on a two-day visit.

It may be noted that last month too, Blinken had a telephonic conversation with EAM Jaishankar and discussed the situation in Ukraine.
