LG Manoj Sinha has promised to make J&K the most beautiful investment destination

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha promised “global standard end-to-end facilities” for businesses in Jammu & Kashmir as a 36-member delegation from the Gulf countries arrived in Srinagar on Sunday evening.

The delegation is looking to strengthen ties and explore the investment opportunities in the region.

LG Sinha hosted a dinner for the CEOs of top companies, entrepreneurs, start-up representatives, exporters in J&K and other industry leaders from the Gulf countries who are on a four-day visit to the Union Territory.

On the occasion, Sinha expressed his commitment to making Jammu and Kashmir the most preferred investment destination in the country.

“India’s relationship with Gulf countries is being translated into a vibrant, revitalized economic partnership with J&K that will not only diversify our export basket but will also create a conducive environment for expansion of the existing trade,” he said, adding, “We have worked with a coherent framework in last 2 years to harness immense natural resources, economic potential of J&K.”

He said that the government has worked out a blueprint to “unlock investment flows.”

“We promise to provide global standard end-to-end facilities for the businesses, skilled workforce, transparent and hassle-free regulatory mechanism and creation of necessary infrastructure wherever required," he said.

As part of the four-day programme, LG Sinha along with the Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce and other government officials will be showcasing investment opportunities with a focus on entrepreneurship, tourism, and the hospitality sector.

The delegation also comprises Indian businesspeople based in the UAE and a representative of the Rulers Office in Abu Dhabi, and will meet top officials of the Jammu and Kashmir government.

The visit signifies the successful socio-economic transformation of Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 36-member business delegation from Gulf countries on Monday visited Pahalgam in south Kashmir and in the next few days, they are expected to visit other tourist destinations of Kashmir including ski resort, Gulmarg, to explore the investment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The scheduled program is in line with the initiatives taken by the government of J&K towards creating a favourable infrastructure for export promotion and an entrepreneurial-friendly environment.

The 4-day visit of the delegation is a follow-up to the Dubai-Expo. In January this year, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had signed several MoUs in key sectors like Real Estate, Infrastructure, Tourism, Logistics, Hospitality and Healthcare to generate investments for the industrial growth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sinha informed that since his Dubai Expo visit in January, many foreign companies from UAE have announced long-term plans for J&K. “We are ready to take the relationship to a qualitatively new level and strengthen our economic partnership,” he added.
