Two Indian nationals among three were killed in a suspected drone attack near the Abu Dhabi airport on Monday

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday had a telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and condemned the terror attack in the strongest terms.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the EAM conveyed India’s strong solidarity with the UAE in the face of such an attack.

“Given its principled position against terrorism, India will stand with the UAE in international forums on this issue,” the MEA added.

During the conversation, as per the MEA, the UAE Foreign Minister shared the details of the attack with EAM Jaishankar and conveyed the deepest condolences of the UAE Government on the death of two Indians.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan assured that the UAE Government would extend the fullest support to the families of the deceased.

The UAE Foreign Minister said his country’s authorities are in continuous touch with the Indian Embassy in that regard.

On his part, EAM Jaishankar emphasized that in this day and age, such an attack on innocent civilians was completely unacceptable and against all civilized norms, the MEA said.

The EAM appreciated the immediate assistance provided by the UAE authorities to the Embassy in responding to this tragic situation, the MEA said.

The MEA is in contact with the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi regarding the return to India of the mortal remains of the deceased, the Ministry noted.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is coordinating with the families, the Ministry added.
