Jaishankar also spoke to the Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Hungary on bilateral issues

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday held a conversation with European Union High Representative/Vice President Josep Borrell Fontelles and discussed global hotspots, especially Afghanistan and Myanmar.

A tweet by EAM Jaishankar described it as a "warm conversation" and called it their first for the year.

The two reviewed trade and investment, connectivity, climate action and strategic facets of India-EU cooperation, he said in the tweet.

“A warm conversation with EU HRVP @JosepBorrellF,our first this year. Reviewed trade & investment, connectivity, climate action and strategic facets of India-EU cooperation. Discussed global hotspots, especially Afghanistan and Myanmar,” Jaishankar said in the tweet.

He also spoke to Swedish Minister For Foreign Affairs Anne Linde and Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

"Nice to speak to FM @AnnLinde of Sweden. Conversation covered the Covid situation, green transition and Nordic cooperation. Our bilateral relationship continues to advance steadily," Jaishankar said on Twitter.

"A good discussion with FM Péter Szijjártó of Hungary. Discussed bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, mobility and health.

Confident that the positive momentum of 2021 will grow further in 2022. Look forward to welcoming him in India soon," EAM Jaishankar said in another tweeet after his conversation with his Hungarian counterpart.
