As the nation marks the 74th Army Day, President Ram Nath Kovind paid soulful tribute to the Indian Army stating the Army has been "pivotal in ensuring the national security."

“Our soldiers have displayed professionalism, sacrifice and valour in defending borders and maintaining peace. The nation is grateful for your service. Jai Hind!” the President said in his tweet.

Similarly, while extending his best wishes to the Indian Army personnel on the occasion of the Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Indian soldiers are known for their “bravery and professionalism”.

“Best wishes on the occasion of Army Day, especially to our courageous soldiers, respected veterans and their families. The Indian Army is known for its bravery and professionalism. Words cannot do justice to the invaluable contribution of the Indian Army towards national safety,” Prime Minister Modi said in his tweet.

He further tweeted: “Indian Army personnel serve in hostile terrains and are at the forefront of helping fellow citizens during humanitarian crisis, including natural disasters. India is proud of the stellar contribution of the Army in Peacekeeping Missions overseas as well.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while extending best wishes to Indian Army personnel, said, “Our Army has distinguished itself as a courageous and professional force, “unwavering in their commitment to defend the country to defend the country. The nation is proud of the Indian Army.”

The Army Day is dedicated to the organisation which is the land component of the Indian armed forces which uphold the ideals and values of the world’s largest democracy; thwarts proxy wars and internal threats; and assists the Government and people of India.

The Army Day also recognizes the soldiers who carry out assigned duties and tasks professionally and without regard to personal safety and are ever willing to make the supreme sacrifice is the situation demands.

The Army Day also presents an opportunity to glance at one of the world’s strongest militaries and recall into its’ glorious accomplishments.

In over seven decades of its history, the Indian Army has emerged as one the world’s strongest militaries in the world.

It is the largest constituent of the Indian armed forces and acts as the country’s strategic deterrence and, if compelled, also wins wars and remains ready for a full spectrum of challenges and conflicts.
