Good news for Indians as the power of the country’s passport has further improved in the global ranking in 2022; it has climbed to seven places at the 83rd place, compared to the 90th position in 2021, according to the latest report of the Henley Passport Index.

With this, Indian passport holders can now visit 59 destinations worldwide without obtaining a visa. India has added 35 more destinations since 2006.

Japan and Singapore ranked first on the index with visa-free access to 192 destinations. Germany and South Korea ranked second with visa-free access to 190 destinations.

According to the Henley Passport Index report, which is prepared on the basis of exclusive data provided by the International Air Transport Association, the Pakistani passport has been ranked as the fourth worst passport for international travel for the third consecutive year.

Pakistani passport holders have visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 31 destinations around the world, while Afghani passports sit at the bottom of the index of 199 passports. The index doesn't take temporary restrictions into account.

But this number doesn’t involve the current Covid-19 travel restrictions. This index reveals that any individual can visit an average number of 107 countries without a prior visa. Passport holders from countries like Japan, Singapore and the US can visit 180 countries on the same parameter.

Some of the countries where Indian passport holders can get Visa On Arrival (VOA) are Fiji, Iran, Cook Islands, Armenia, Jordan, Albania, Serbia, British Virgin Islands, Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, Bolivia, Mauritius and Ethiopia.
