This will be the MoS for External Affairs’ first visit to both the African countries

Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan will be paying an official visit to The Gambia and to the Republic of Senegal from November 1-5, 2021. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.

During his visit to The Gambia from November 1 to 2, 2021, the MoS will hold a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians abroad Dr. Mamadou Tangara apart from calling on the Gambian President Adama Barrow.

During The Gambia visit, some agreements and MoUs are also expected to be signed. He will also interact with the Indian community in this West African country.

During his visit to Senegal from November 4-5, 2021, MoS Muraleedharan will co-chair the third India-Senegal Joint Commission Meeting (JCM), with Minister of Foreign Affairs Aissata Tall Sall.

MoS Muraleedharan will call on President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall and also meet Minister of Armed Forces Sidiki Kaba and other dignitaries.

According to the MEA, some agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit. He will address the Indian Community in Dakar.

India enjoys warm, friendly and cordial relations with The Gambia and Senegal. Over the years, India has been at the forefront in capacity building of the youth of The Gambia and Senegal.

The visit of MoS Muraleedharan will help in sustaining the momentum in our bilateral ties with both these countries, the MEA said.
