EAM S Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Armenia

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held a warm and productive meeting with Ararat Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, a mountainous Caucasus country.

During the meeting, both ministers discussed a roadmap to take their bilateral cooperation forward and agreed on enhancing trade, education and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

“A warm and productive meeting with FM @AraratMirzoyan of Armenia today. Discussed a roadmap to take our bilateral cooperation forward. Agreed on enhancing our trade, education and cultural exchanges,” Jaishankar tweeted after his meeting with his Armenian counterpart.

Earlier, the EAM met Armenian National Assembly President Alen Simonyan and discussed the importance of nurturing the bond between the two parliamentary democracies.

The two sides also spoke about bringing people of the two countries closer to each other through greater cooperation in different domains.

“This is the first ever-visit of an Indian EAM to independent Armenia. The visit will provide an opportunity for reviewing the progress in our bilateral ties with the three countries as well as share views on developments in the region,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.

“It will be a continuation of our increased engagement with countries in our extended neighbourhood,” the MEA added.
