External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar who is in Kenya on a three-day visit on Sunday held productive online interaction with a cross section of Indian diaspora in the African country.

The EAM will chair with his Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo the 3rd India-Kenya Joint Commission meeting which will review all aspects of the bilateral relationship.

“Hon’ble External Affairs Minister of India @DrSJaishankar, who is currently on an official visit to Kenya, held a productive online interaction with a cross section of Indian diaspora in Kenya 13th June,” said Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Dr Virander Paul.

Kenya has a thriving community of persons of Indian origin presently numbered around 80,000, including an estimated 20,000 Indian citizens. It is an important bridge between the two countries.

Upon reaching Nairobi on the visit on Saturday, Jaishankar said he was delighted to be back in Kenya and thanked his Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo for her gracious welcome and hospitality.

He also said he looks forward to a productive discussion on India-Kenya bilateral cooperation.

“Delighted to be back in Kenya. Thank FM Raychelle Omamo for her gracious welcome and hospitality. A productive discussion on our bilateral cooperation that we will be taking forward through the Joint Commission,” he said in a twitter post.

Recalling the evolution of India-Kenya relations from a historical solidarity to a modern partnership today, the External Affairs Minister also looked forward to have a detailed exchange on regional and global issues as befitting two UNSC members, EAM Jaishankar’s tweet said.

Jaishankar on Monday will chair, along with his Kenyan counterpart, the 3rd India-Kenya Joint Commission meeting which will review all aspects of the bilateral relationship. The last meeting of the Joint Commission was held in New Delhi in March 2019.

In Nairobi, he will also meet with other Ministers of the Kenyan government to take forward the India-Kenya relationship.
