The meeting between the two sides also focussed upon Indo-US vaccine partnership

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and held a productive discussion on various aspects of Indo-US bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues

A tweet by EAM Jaishankar said that deliberations on bilateral engagement and global and regional issues were fruitful covering Indo-Pacific and the Quad, Afghanistan, Myanmar, UNSC matters and other regional organisations.

“Pleasure to meet @SecBlinken. A productive discussion on various aspects of our bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues. Covered Indo Pacific and the Quad, Afghanistan, Myanmar, UNSC matters and other international organizations,” the tweet said.


The EAM noted that the meeting also focussed upon Indo-US vaccine partnership aimed at expanding access and ensuring supply.

“Also focused on Indo-US vaccine partnership aimed at expanding access and ensuring supply. Appreciated the strong solidarity expressed by the US at this time. Today's talks have further solidified our strategic partnership and enlarged our agenda of cooperation,” the EAM said in another tweet.

Earlier, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price in a statement maintained that Secretary Blinken held a meeting with Indian EAM Jaishankar and the US Secretary of State reaffirmed the Biden Administration’s commitment to deepen US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

“Secretary Blinken and Minister Jaishankar discussed a broad range of issues, including COVID-19 relief, efforts to strengthen Indo-Pacific cooperation through the Quad, and a shared commitment to combating the climate crisis and enhancing multilateral cooperation, including at the UN Security Council,” Price stated.

The two also discussed regional developments, Myanmar and continuing support for Afghanistan, he said in the statement.

They pledged to continue their cooperation on shared economic and regional security priorities, he added.
