The key outcome of the meet will be the ‘Rome Declaration’ which will focus on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic

Suresh Prabhu, India’s G-20 Sherpa will represent the country at the Global Health Summit, a special event being organised by G-20 Chair, Italy in partnership with the European Union on Friday in a virtual format.

The Global Health Summit will take place in Rome. The Summit will be co-chaired by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

Tweeting about it EU President Ursula von der Leyen said, “We are working hard to bring the pandemic under control. At the same time we must prevent such pandemics from happening in the future. With Mario Draghi we are convening the #GlobalHealthSummit in Rome, so the world is better prepared to deal with health crises.”

The key outcome of the global health meet will be the ‘Rome Declaration’ which will focus on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year G20 grouping had announced a number of coordinated measures to deal with the pandemic, including the economic fallout.

The summit will see the participation of all G20 member countries, three guest countries - Singapore, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal as the President of the council of EU, Norway as the co-chair of the ACT-Accelerator, and Switzerland.

Other international and regional organizations to participate in the Summit include the UN, WHO, IMF, OECD, AU, ASEAN, WTO, FAO, GAVI, Global Fund. Members from New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
