Consignments were received from Kazakhstan, Japan, Switzerland, Ontario (Canada), USA, Egypt and British Oxygen Co. (UK)

Amid the debilitating second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that India is reeling under, partner and friendly nations have persisted with sending life-saving aid.

New Delhi received consignments of Covid-19 medical supplies from Australia, USA, Kuwait and Kazakhstan on Saturday.

A consignment of ventilator valves arrived from Australia. This shipment follows the 60 oxygen concentrators, 1056 ventilators and other medical supplies received from Australia on Friday.

“Our continuing cooperation with Australia. Consignment of 25,000 ventilator valves arrives. Appreciate this continuing support from our friend Australia,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.in a tweet after the consignment arrived.

US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences on Saturday sent another batch of 29,021 vials of Remdesivir. This shipment is in addition to their earlier 29,514 vials received on 14 May and 81,000 vials of the anti-viral drug received on 5 May.

“Thank @GileadSciences for gift of another 29021 vials of Remdesivir that arrived in Mumbai early this morning. Appreciate this continuing support,” Bagchi’s tweet noted.

The MEA thanked Kuwaiti leader Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait for sending a shipload of medical supplies that reached Mumbai on Saturday.

“Taking forward historical ties of friendship. Kuwaiti ship arrives at Nhava Sheva Mumbai (India). 3 semi-trailers of LMO (25 MT each) & 1000 O2 cylinders on board. Grateful to H.H. Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the Amir of the State of Kuwait & government of Kuwait,” another tweet by the MEA Spokesperson recounted.

Valuing the support from an Asian Strategic Partner, Kazakhstan, New Delhi, expressed gratefulness for receiving masks and respirators and other medical equipment.

“Continuing cooperation with our Strategic Partner. Aircraft arrives carrying consignment of 105 ventilators, 750000 masks/respirators and other medical equipment from Kazakhstan. Grateful to Kazakhstan for the support,” Bagchi noted in his tweet.

Major consignments received on May 14 and 15 from Kazakhstan, Japan, Switzerland, Ontario (Canada), USA, Egypt and British Oxygen Co. (UK) included 100 Oxygen Concentrators, 500 Vetilators/BiPAP/CPAP, 300 Oxygen Cylinders, 40,000 vials of Remdesivir and Masks & Protective Suits, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a statement on Sunday.

Cumulatively, 11,058 Oxygen Concentrators; 13,496 Oxygen Cylinders; 19 Oxygen Generation Plants; 7365 ventilators/Bi PAP; about 5.3L Remdesivir vials were delivered or dispatched through road and air, from April 27 to May 15.
