Prime Minister Modi thanked the people and Government of Bhutan for their good wishes and support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday
conveyed his appreciation for the solidarity and prayers expressed by the leaders and people of Bhutan as India battles the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

PM Modi had a telephone conversation with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lyonchhen Dr. Lotay Tshering in which the two leaders discussed the pandemic situation.

“Discussed the pandemic situation with my friend Lyonchhen @PMBhutan, and conveyed appreciation for the solidarity and prayers expressed by the leaders and people of Bhutan. The India-Bhutan friendship is truly special, and we will continue to fight this crisis together,” said a tweet from the Indian Prime Minister.

The Bhutan Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the Government and the people of India in their efforts against the recent wave of COVID-19 pandemic, a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) statement later said.

The Indian Prime Minister conveyed his sincere thanks to the people and Government of Bhutan for their good wishes and support, it noted.

PM Modi also appreciated the leadership of His Majesty the King in managing Bhutan's fight against the pandemic, and extended his best wishes to PM Tshering for the continuing efforts, the statement added.

The leaders noted that the present crisis situation has served to further highlight the special friendship between India and Bhutan, anchored in mutual understanding and respect, shared cultural heritage, and strong people to people links.
