In view of the historical relationship between India and Sudan and based on the request of the Sudanese government, New Delhi supplied the medicines, said a statement of the Indian Embassy in Sudan.

Director, International Cooperation Ms. Eman, accompanied by Director Foreign Grants and Donations department Ameen Kekki, acknowledge the gift and appreciated India’s continued support in providing food aid, scholarships, capacity building, and training programmes to the Sudanese people.

The Indian Embassy in Sudan expressed hope that the gift by India could be gainfully and suitably used as they are as per international standards and have been spared to help the friendly people of Sudan despite India’s own huge requirements in view of the surging Covid-19 numbers, the statement noted.

Since the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, India has not only been supplying medicines but also making its medical and public health expertise, experience, and capacity development available to friendly and partner countries, it stated.

The role played by India in addressing the global demand for pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and now vaccines is an excellent execution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of united international efforts required to defeat Covid-19 and age of Indian wisdom ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbkam’ i.e. the world is one family and ‘Sarve Bahavantu Sukhinah’ meaning May All be Happy.

So far India has supplied life-saving and essential medicines to over 90 countries and to many of them as gift, the statement informed.

India and its people have always stood steadfastly with the Government and people of Sudan through thick and thin and will continue to help Sudanese brothers and sisters through sharing experience, expertise, and resources wherever possible, it reiterated.
