His discussions will focus on economic cooperation and community welfare

Lending further momentum to the advancement of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will be visiting Abu Dhabi on April 18.

On 28 January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on telephone with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in which the two leaders had discussed the impact of the COVID pandemic in the region, and expressed satisfaction that cooperation between India and UAE had not halted even during the health crisis.

Prime Minister Modi had expressed his special appreciation for the personal attention and care that the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi had always shown for the well-being of the expatriate Indian community in UAE.

Earlier, in November, the EAM Jaishankar had paid a two-day official visit to the UAE when he had met the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and held talks with his counterpart, the Foreign Minister of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had discussed the advancement of strategic cooperation between India and the UAE in the post-COVID era with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit to the Gulf kingdom.

Jaishankar and his UAE counterpart had held discussions on the entire range of bilateral issues. EAM had then briefed the UAE side on the progress made by India in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, both on the health and economic front.

EAM and the UAE Foreign Minister discussed recent regional and international developments and agreed to continue coordination on various multilateral issues.

In January, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan had visited UAE, where he had met with UAE dignitaries and a broad cross-section of the Indian community in UAE.

The special focus in the visit was on issues related to the Indian community, especially the welfare of Indian workers.
