India and Eritrea have agreed to deepen cooperation for mutual benefits

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held a productive meeting with Eritrea Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed who along with Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab is on a six-day visit to India from Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, during the meeting the Eritrean Foreign Minister apprised the External Affairs Minister of the development priorities of his Government and sought India’s active collaboration, especially in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, education, health care, mining, manufacturing, renewable energy and infrastructure development.

Both Ministers agreed to strengthen sectoral engagement through an action oriented agenda to deepen cooperation for mutual benefit. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

In the afternoon, the visiting Foreign Minister met National Security Adviser Ajit Doval for discussions on regional developments and security cooperation.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh will visit the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), and will hold interactions with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) and representatives of Indian ICT, telecommunications, mining and energy companies during his visit to India.
