73.5 lakh vaccine doses have been given as grant, 288.4 lakhs commercially and 114.36 lakh under the COVAX facility

India has supplied 476.26 lakh (over 47 million) COVID-19 vaccines to 50 countries under grant, on commercial basis and agreement under the COVAX facility.

This was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that India’s delivery and production capacities will be used for the benefit of all humankind, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said during his weekly media briefing today.

Srivastava further stated that besides supplying vaccines under the three categories to these countries, India has also provided vaccines to UN health workers.

According to MEA’s website, of the total 476.26 lakh vaccines supplied by New Delhi, 73.5 lakh vaccines have been given as grant, 288.4 lakh commercially and 114.36 lakh under COVAX facility.

“Our vaccine supply under the Vaccine Matri initiative has been continuing. The initiative has been guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that India’s delivery and production capacities will be used for the benefit of all humankind and in this spirit we would continue to supply the vaccines,” the MEA Spokesperson reiterated.

He added that the decisions on all these supplies will be calibrated as per domestic production as well as the requirements of the national vaccine programme, which is the largest in the world.
