The Ministry was responding to reports on China’s construction activity in an area close to Arunachal Pradesh

The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday said it has seen reports on China undertaking construction activity along the border areas with India.

It asserted that the government keeps a constant watch on all developments that have bearing on India’s security. However, it said, “Our Government too has stepped up border infrastructure including the construction of roads, bridges which has provided much needed connectivity to the local population along the border.”

The MEA further said, “The Government remains committed to the objective of creating infrastructure along the border areas for the improvement of livelihood of its citizens, including in Arunachal Pradesh.”

The MEA was responding to reports on China’s construction activity in an area close to Arunachal Pradesh.

India and China are engaged in a bitter standoff since early May in eastern Ladakh. It was reported earlier that China had relocated 10,000 troops from its training facilities located around 80-100 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, there has been no reduction in its deployment in frontline areas.
