This will be the second ministerial meeting of the Quad comprising India, Australia, Japan and the US

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will undertake two-day visit to Tokyo from October 6 to 7 to participate in the second ministerial meeting of Quad and for holding a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart.

He will also hold bilateral consultations with the Foreign Ministers of Australia and the United States of America during his visit to Japan, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday.

“During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will also participate in the Second India-Australia-Japan-USA Ministerial Meeting on 6 October, 2020, in which the Foreign Ministers of the respective countries will participate”, the MEA said.

The Foreign Ministers shall discuss the post-Covid 19 international order and the need for a coordinated response to the various challenges emerging from the pandemic. They will also discuss regional issues and collectively affirm the importance of maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific,” the Ministry added.

In the course of his bilateral meeting with the Japanese Foreign Minister,
“The two ministers are expected to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest,” the MEA said.
