Trump’s administration used glimpses of the Modi-Trump meetings where the leaders could be seen holding hands on stage to make the campaigning videos for US President Donald Trump

In order to win over the Indian-American votes for the upcoming presidential elections, incumbent United States President Donald Trump is banking on the two rallies he held together with Prime Minister Modi. Trump expressed hopefulness that the move might prove beneficial in the elections, The Telegraph reported.

President Donald Trump referred to the two rallies held namely ‘Howdy Modi’ and ‘Namaste Trump’ held in Houston and Ahmedabad respectively, the report said.

When asked if he sees his campaign to attract Indian-American voters enough, he said, “I do. We had an event in Houston. It was a fantastic event. I was invited by Prime Minister Modi. It was incredible. It was actually incredible. The Prime Minister could not have been more generous.”

He further said that his administration enjoys great support from Prime Minister Modi as well as Indians. He said, “We have great support from India. We have great support from Prime Minister Modi and I would think that Indian people would be voting for Trump. I also went to India just prior to the pandemic setting because India has been hit very hard, left reeling. About a week before that. We had an incredible time.’’

While many say that the two rallies were an endorsement of President Trump, the India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has not yet made any comment on the same, The telegraph reported.

Trump’s administration has been using Indo-American relations as their trump for the upcoming elections. His administration sees the two rallies as souvenirs of their relations. Therefore, it used glimpses of the Modi-Trump meetings where the leaders could be seen holding hands on stage to make the campaigning videos for US President Donald Trump which were released a fortnight ago.
