Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat said that China’s economic and diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan mandates a high level of preparedness by India

India is facing the threat of coordinated action along its northern and western fronts but the country has conceptualized a strategy to deal with the coordinated action on both the borders said Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat.

Speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, he said that China’s economic cooperation with Pakistan in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir along with continued military and diplomatic support mandates high levels of preparedness by India, according to a report by The Free Press Journal.

The assessment came at the backdrop of the External Affairs Ministry telling Beijing about the situation witnessed in the border areas in eastern Ladakh is a “direct result” of actions taken by China.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be traveling to Moscow to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

SCO is an eight-nation regional group that includes China and India.

Meanwhile, it is understood that China has deployed five militia squads for rapid response at the disputed Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.

"Militia is basically a reserve force of the Chinese's People Liberation Army. They are deployed during wartime situations and help the PLA in its military operations," the report quoted a senior government official as saying.

Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is also on a two-day visit to Ladakh to review operational preparedness. He is expected to visit forward locations.
