Software developers and computer systems architects accounted for 40 percent of the positions certified

Indian companies including Qualcomm, Infosys, and Cognizant among others ranked the highest in the top 10 H-1B applications. They submitted the highest number of visa applications during the first three quarters of fiscal 2020 as per data released by the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification.

A total of 185,298 visa applications were received by the department during the third quarter (April-June) said the report.

The Economic Times quoted managing partner at immigration.com. Rajiv S Khanna as saying, “This data includes all applications, whether for amendment of an H-1B where the company moves the employee from one location to another for a project, a change in employer, as well as new H-1B filings.”

TCS and Zensar were the other Indian companies in the top 10, ranking at the seventh and eighth positions respectively. Software developers and computer systems architects accounted for 40 percent of the positions certified as per the report.

Other companies that made it to the list were, US Corp, Deloitte Consulting, Amazon.com Services, Oracle America, NVIDIA Corporation, and Google.

The US immigration agency also certified over 35,000 applications under the permanent employment program and out of them, 50 percent were of Indian nationals, said the report.
