The new route would restrict Pakistan from monitoring the movement of Indian troops while deployment.

India is building a new road from Manali to Leh to provide a third route to Ladakh which is situated in the Himalayas. The route will help India transport its tanks and deploy troops against Pakistan and China, an ANI report carried by Hindustan Times suggested.

According to the report, the road will save the journey time of at least three hours. Apart from that, it will also help in maintaining confidentiality and would restrict Pakistan from monitoring the movement of Indian troops while deployment. The road will enable the Army to transport heavy weaponry like tanks and artillery guns to the Ladakh area from other locations.

Some senior officials told ANI that it will help the Army save a lot of time. He said, “Agencies are working to provide alternative connectivity from Manali to Leh through Nimu-Padam-Darcha axis which will help in saving a lot of time in comparison with the existing routes passing through Zojila pass from Srinagar and the other route from Manali to Leh through Sarchu.”

The report carried by HT said that the new road will connect Khardungla with glaciers like Sasoma-Saser La Shyok and Daulat Beg Oldi axis. The report said that route will be used to transport goods and men is the one from Zojila, which passes through the Drass-Kargil axis to Leh. This is the same route which was attacked by Pakistan during the Kargil war, the report said.

According to the report, the government of India has been working on building the alternative connectivity to Daulat Beg Oldi. It said that the work has already started from the world’s highest motorable road Khardung La pass.
