Shah Mahmood Qureshi may be replaced from the Foreign Ministry to mend ties with Saudi Arabia

Unconfirmed reports from Pakistan suggest that Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi may be replaced soon to mend relations with Saudi Arabia, which have been affected by his statement about the Saudi political stand on the Kashmir issue.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, after berating Saudi Arabia openly for not being by the side of Pakistan regarding the Kashmir issue, Qureshi faced criticism from Pakistan Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari.

She stated that the statement made by Qureshi has not only embarrassed Pakistan PM Imran Khan but also the Kashmiris.

According to the report, Qureshi said, “I am once again respectfully telling OIC that a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers is our expectation.” He also said that if the OIC doesn’t call for any meeting then he would ask PM Khan to call for a meeting with the Islamic countries which stand by Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.

On Sunday, Pakistani Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa, and the head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Faiz left for Riyadh for a meeting with the Saudi leaders in an attempt to mend the damaged relations.
