ROSCOSMOS said in a statement that the astronauts are in good health and are determined to continue their training

Indian astronauts in Russia have resumed their training for India’s first manned space project, the Gaganyaan. Russian Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS has said that the four Indian astronauts who were chosen for the mission are determined to continue with their training, The Indian Express reported.

According to the report, the astronauts resumed the training in May. The training was put on hold following the COVID-19 outbreak in February. The Indian Express report further said that the astronauts have already completed their training related to crew actions in the event of an abnormal descent module landing. The training on abnormal descent module landing in the steppe in summer was completed in July.

The report said that the training related to landing in wooded and marshy areas in winter was completed in February itself. After the training resumed in May, the astronauts also completed the training on landing on the water surfaces in June.

ROSCOSMOS said in a statement that the astronauts are in good health and are determined to continue their training.

Last year, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed a contract with ROSCOSMOS for the training of the four Indian astronauts in Russia for India’s dream project. As per the contract, Russia is supposed to train Indian astronauts in courses on medical and physical training, learning Russian language and studying the systems.

The four astronauts are expected to complete their training by the first quarter of 2021, the report said.
