The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter to India and that Turkey should refrain from commenting on such matters

Terming it as “factually incorrect and unwarranted”, India slammed Turkey for its controversial statement on Jammu and Kashmir.

On the first anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, the spokesperson of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said scrapping of special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir complicated the situation and did not serve peace and stability in the region.

Calling it interference in India’s affairs, Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Anurag Srivastava on Thursday said, “We have seen the statement. It is factually incorrect and unwarranted.”

“We would urge the government of Turkey to get a proper understanding of matters and refrain from commenting on matters internal to India,” he further added.

Besides Pakistan and China, Turkey is the third country to give a statement on the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370.
