India has called for early and complete disengagement of the troops along the Line of Actual Control and de-escalation from border areas

India and China are holding their fifth-round of commander-level talks on Sunday at Moldo on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control to finalise modalities of their disengagement process in Pangong Tso in Eastern Ladakh.

Troops of the People’s Liberation Army have already withdrawn from the Galwan Valley, the place where 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a violent scuffle with Chinese soldiers on June 15.

In that scuffle, China also lost more than 40 soldiers but like its all-weather friend Pakistan, has preferred to hide the fact about the death than disclosing it to avoid negative public reaction against the incumbent Communist regime.

Besides the Galwan Valley, China has also pulled back its troops from other friction points but they stay put in Pangong Tso.

India has called for early and complete disengagement of the troops along the LAC and de-escalation from India-China border areas in accordance with bilateral agreement and protocols.

“Full restoration of peace and tranquility was essential for smooth overall development of bilateral relations,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said.

He added, “This was also the agreement reached between the two Special Representatives, NSA and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in their conversation on 5th July.”
