Evacuation will be carried out from 23 countries under the fifth phase of Vande Bharat Mission

An estimated 1,39,000 Indians stranded abroad will be repatriated under the fifth phase of ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ to start from August 1. However, a total 8,78,921 Indians have been repatriated under the Mission so far.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, as many as 792 flights which include 692 international flights and 100 domestic ones will be pressed into service to evacuate these stranded Indians under the fifth phase. These flights will cater to 29 different airports from across India.

Evacuation will be carried out from 23 countries and they are: USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Israel, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and GCC countries.

Under the phase four of the Vande Bharat Mission, a total 1083 flights were pressed into service to repatriate Indians from 29 countries. These flights were operated by Air India, Spice Jet, Go Air and Indigo.
