The bilateral India-US tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Amphibious Exercise, Tiger Triumph 2024, concluded with a grand ceremony onboard USS Somerset on March 30, 2024. This significant event aimed to globally validate the strategic partnership between India and the United States, focusing on refining Standard Operating Procedures for multinational HADR operations through shared practices.

Comprehensive Phases of Engagement

The exercise commenced with the Harbour Phase in Visakhapatnam from March 18 to 25, 2024, where both nations engaged in pre-sail discussions, subject matter expert exchanges, and sports engagements. Cultural bonds were strengthened as personnel from both navies celebrated the Holi festival.

The Sea Phase followed from March 26 to 30, with maritime exercises, troop landings at Kakinada, and the establishment of a joint Command and Control Centre and Medical Camp for HADR operations.

Key highlights included cross-deck helicopter operations with UH3H, CH53, and MH60R helicopters, seamlessly integrated between the Indian and US navies. The Indian contingent included a Landing Platform Dock, Landing Ship Tanks, Guided Missile Frigate, and Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft, supported by the Indian Army and Air Force. The US Task Force featured a Landing Platform Dock, Destroyer, and US Marines, demonstrating a formidable force ready for joint operations.

Multi-Service Collaboration

Special Operations Forces from both nations executed combined operations, epitomizing the strategic alignment and operational synergy. This exercise, marking its second edition, is a platform for humanitarian and disaster relief training, to help both nations to promptly respond to global emergencies.
