India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage is now close to the 700 million mark

India administered more than 1 crore (10 mlion) Covid-19 vaccine doses on Monday, the third time that this feat has been achieved in the last 11 days.

"September has started on a high note as India touches 1 crore COVID-19 vaccinations today. Under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, the world's largest vaccination drive is scaling massive heights," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted in the evening.

According to data available on the CoWin dashboard, over 1.08 crore (10.8 million) vaccine doses had been administered by 10 pm.

With this, India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage is now inching closer to the 70 crore (700 million) mark.

The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late tonight, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

With over 1.33 crore (13.3 million) vaccine doses, India had achieved its highest ever single-day Covid-19 vaccination coverage so far on August 31.

India had earlier administered more than 1 Crore COVID-19 vaccine doses on September 27.
