These coaches will gradually replace the premium long distance trains over Indian Railways network

In what is being seen as a paradigm shift in rail travel experience, the Agartala
- Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi) Special Rajdhani Express will now have Tejas Sleeper coaches with upgraded facilities.

The new Tejas coaches with smart features will offer the best-in-class travel experience and ensure better connectivity with national capital.

The service will begin on February 15.

The Ministry of Railways on Friday said there were plans to manufacture 500 such Tejas-type Sleeper coaches at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Modern Coach Factory (MCF) during FY 21-22.

These coaches will gradually replace the premium long distance trains over Indian Railways network, the ministry said.

The new features in the Tejas coaches include an automatic plug door controlled by the guard.

The bogies have an air spring suspension to improve comfort and ride quality of these coaches.

All the coaches are provided with Automatic Fire Alarm and Detection System and CCTVs with day- night vision capability.

The Tejas coaches also have improved toilets with touch-less fittings and bio-vacuum system. The upgraded interiors include a roller blind on the windows instead of curtains and a more convenient upper berth arrangement.
