Over 3,000 sites across all States and Union Territories will be virtually connected for the launch

In what will be the world's largest program of its kind, the pan-India rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination drive will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing on January 16.

Over 3,000 session sites across all states and Union Territories will be virtually connected for the the vaccination launch which will cover the entire length and breadth of the country.

Around 100 beneficiaries will be vaccinated at each session site on the inaugural day, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said announcing the schedule for the launch.

Health Care Workers, both in the government and private sectors, will receive the vaccine during this phase.

Co-WIN, an online digital platform developed by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will facilitate real time information of vaccine stocks, storage temperature and individualized tracking of beneficiaries for COVID-19 vaccine.

"This digital platform will assist programme managers across all levels while conducting vaccination sessions," a statement issued by the PMO said.

A dedicated 24x7 call centre – 1075 – has also been established for addressing the queries related to COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine rollout and the Co-WIN software.

Adequate doses of both COVISHIELD, manufactured by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India and COVAXIN from Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotexh have already been delivered across the country.

State and UT governments have delivered these to all the districts for a smooth rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination process.
