President Kovind also inaugurated the renovated PBG Regimental Gurdwara in the President’s Estate

India is celebrating the 551st birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji in full festive fervour. On the occasion, from President Kovind to Prime Minister Modi, Indian leaders extended their greetings to all devotees in India and abroad.

President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter and wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary, I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the countrymen and all Indians settled abroad, especially the brothers and sisters of the Sikh community. Come, on this auspicious occasion, let us all follow his teachings in our conduct.”



President Kovind also inaugurated the renovated PBG Regimental Gurdwara in the President’s Estate.

“On the occasion of Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, President Kovind inaugurated the renovated PBG Regimental Gurudwara in the President's Estate and paid his homage,” he wrote.



In his message to the nation, he said, “Guru Nanak Dev gave the basic mantra of ‘Ek Onkar’ to his followers and insisted on treating all human beings equally, without discriminating on the basis of caste, creed and gender. His message of ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand Chhako’ contains the essence of all his teachings.”

On the sacred occasion of Guru Nanak Dev's birth anniversary, let us resolve to conduct ourselves in a manner so as to emulate his teachings, he wrote further.

Taking to Punjabi to wish the nation on the occasion, Vice President of India wrote, “Guru Nanak Dev Ji de Prakash Purab te shardhalu deshwasiyon nu hardik subhkamnawan denda haan (On the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, I extend my best wishes to the devotees.)”



Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to twitter to wish the same. He wrote, “

I bow to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his Parkash Purab. May his thoughts keep motivating us to serve society and ensure a better planet.”



“Unha de vichar sanu samaj di seva karan ate behtar sansar sunishchit karan layi prerit karde rahin (Their ideas continue to motivate us to serve society and ensure a better world),” he wrote further.



In his ‘Mann ki Baat’ yesterday, PM Modi had extended his greetings and had said, “The world over, the influence of Guru Nanak Dev ji is distinctly visible. From Vancouver to Wellington, from Singapore to South Africa his messages are heard all around.”

“550th Prakash Parva of Guru Nanak Dev ji, 350th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Govind Singh ji, next year we will have 400th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji too. I feel that I have been specially blessed by Guru Sahib that he has associated me very closely with his work,” he had said.

Home Minister Amit Shah also took to twitter to extend his greetings to all the devotees of Guru Nanak Dev ji. He wrote, “Millions of heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the people of the country on the 551st Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak’s thoughts will always give us the strength to walk on the path of religion and national interest.”



Calling Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings ‘significant and vital in humanity’s spiritual progress,’ Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also extended his greetings to the nation on the 551st birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

“Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings are significant and vital in humanity’s spiritual progress. His influences go beyond the Sikh community and are spread throughout the world. His teachings inspire us to live in harmony and have respect for all religions,” he wrote.





Apart from them, many other dignitaries also wished the devotees of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji on his birth anniversary.
