The Active Caseload which now stands at 4,53,401 comprises just 5.11 per cent of all cumulative cases

Less than 30,000 cases were reported in the country in the past 24 hours for the second consecutive day, confirming the downward trend of the COVID-19 situation in the country.

The latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday morning said that 29,163 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours.

“The country has also seen less than 50,000 daily new cases being registered continuously for the past ten days,” the ministry said in a statement.

The daily average of the cases was 70,114 during October 7 to October 13, which fell to 60,169 during October 14 to October 20. The daily average further fell to 49,909 during October 21 to October 27.

During October 28 and November 3, the daily average was 45,884 which came down to 46,301 during November 4 to November 10. Around 40,365 cases were reported on an average between November 11 and November 17.

“While this signifies the wide adoption of COVID appropriate behaviour among the population, it also assumes significance in view of the high number of daily cases being continuously reported in many countries in Europe and the Americas,” the ministry said.

Of the new positive cases, around 3,797 cases were reported from Delhi which continued to be the biggest contributor. Around 99 deaths, the maximum number of deaths, were reported from Delhi.

However, the cases in Delhi fell to less than 4,000 from over 7,000. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, in a statement said that the third wave of COVID-19 has passed its peak in Delhi.

West Bengal also reported 3,012 cases and 53 deaths followed by 2,710 cases and 19 deaths in Kerala. Maharashtra reported 2,535 cases and 60 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In total, over 449 deaths were reported from the country in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, around 40,791 recoveries were also reported from the country taking the total number of recoveries to 82,90,370. The recovery rate further improved to 93.42 per cent.

The maximum number of recoveries were reported from Kerala with 6,567 recoveries followed by 4,376 recoveries of West Bengal and 3,560 of Delhi in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra also reported 3,001 recoveries in the past 24 hours. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana reported over 2,000 recoveries each in the past 24 hours. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana reported close to 2,000 recoveries each.

So far, India has reported 88,74,290 cases including 1,30,519 deaths.
