The active cases came down to 5,20,773, or 6.19 per cent of the total positive cases

India has been able to keep the number of daily reported cases of COVID-19 below the number of daily recoveries for five straight weeks. In the past 24 hours, India reported less than 50,000 new cases of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, India reported a total of 54,157 recoveries while the daily cases of COVID-19 were estimated at 47,638, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday morning.

“India is reporting new recoveries more than the daily new cases successively for the last five weeks now,” the ministry said in a statement.

“There is a continuous decline in average daily new cases for last 5 weeks. From registering more than 73,000 average daily new cases in the first week of October, the average daily new cases have declined to 46,000 cases,” it added.

The average of daily reported cases of COVID-19 between October 03 and October 09 was 73,154 which came down to 66,331 between October 10 to October 16.

This average came down to 55,834 during October 17 to October 23 and further down to 46,791 between October 24 and October 30. This week, the daily average between October 31 to November 06 was estimated at 46,124.

With this, the active cases in the country came down to 5,20,773 which amounts to 6.19 per cent of the total positive cases.

Of the new recoveries, the maximum was reported from Maharashtra with 11, 277 recoveries in the past 24 hours followed by 7,699 of Kerala and 5,723 of Karnataka. West Bengal also reported 4,187 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Over 2,000 recoveries were reported each from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh while Rajasthan, Haryana and Odisha each reported over 1,000 recoveries.

With this, the total number of recoveries has grown to 77,65,966. “The gap between Recovered cases and Active cases is nearing 72.5 lakh (72,45,193). The national Recovery Rate has further improved to 92.32%,” the ministry said.

India reported a total of 47,638 cases and 670 deaths in the past 24 hours. The maximum number of cases was reported from Maharashtra with 10,259 cases and 256 cases.

Kerala reported 9,016 cases and 26 deaths while Karnataka reported 7,184 cases and 31 new deaths. Tamil Nadu reported 4,295 cases and 28 deaths followed by 3,865 cases and 54 deaths of West Bengal.

National Capital Delhi also reported 3,259 cases and 66 deaths in the past 24 hours.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has crossed the 84-lakh mark to reach 84,11,724. Out of this, around 1,24,985 people have lost their lives.
