The persecution of Kashmiri Pandits 30 years ago and the activities of Islamic extremists in Kashmir are well known to the world. Kashmir has been a victim Pakistan-sponsored Jihadi-terror cocktail for the last 70 years. India has time and again exposed the terror face of Pakistan at various international forums. Now, during a hearing of the US Congress by the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission on November 14, Indian columnist Sunanda Vashisht once again exposed the Pak-sponsored Islamic extremist activities in Kashmir. Vashisht said that terrorists from Pakistan had caused an "ISIS level" of brutality in Kashmir, 30 years before the West came to know of the nature of radical Islamic terror.

"My father is a Kashmiri Hindu, My mother is a Kashmiri Hindu, I am a Kashmiri Hindu and our homes and lives in Kashmir were destroyed by radical Islamic terrorism," Vashisht said. Vashisht described herself as a "member of the minority community from Kashmir that was victim to the worst ethnic cleansing witnessed in independent India". Vashisht also spoke of the killings of Kashmiri Hindus, who were targeted for their faith and called herself "their voice".

The Tom Lantos Commission's hearing was focused on the human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August.
